The Sachse Construction Academy began in 2016 in partnership with Junior Achievement of Southeast Michigan to celebrate Sachse Construction’s 25th anniversary. The Academy was created with a mission to encourage 500 Detroit high-school students to explore the skilled trades as a rewarding potential career path. Through hands-on activities, students were able to experience the skilled trades firsthand. Today, the event has evolved to a two-part Academy involving:


During the first half of the day, Journey 2 Jobs provides a platform for metro Detroit high-school students to learn about post-secondary skilled trades job opportunities through interactive demonstrations and training modules alongside trade partners from across the state of Michigan.

New to this year’s event, Track 2 Trades supports workforce development by allowing hire-ready 18-24 year-old Detroit residents to explore job opportunities and application processes within the construction and skilled trades industries.
